Spam Limits

07.22.2004

Today I noticed my spam counter had actually gone down since Tuesday, from 6946 top 6945. How did I lose a spam? It was then I noticed the Yahoo fine print at the top of the page:

With SpamGuard turned on, Yahoo! Mail will deliver suspected spam to this folder and delete them after one month.

It seems I've been collecting spam for a month now and it's starting to get deleted. Well this just totally sucks. I was running an experiment here!

So, since there's nothing better to do with the folder, I emptied it and have started the spam count over. I wonder if I'll get more than 6946 spams in the next month? I wonder if I'll realize I've got plenty to do without counting spam?

Time For Some Links!

07.21.2004

The incoming freshman class at Duke University are getting free iPods. I wonder if everyone's tuition mysteriously went up $300?

Ever wonder what your name would look like in Egyption heiroglyphics? Before 10 minutes ago, I hadn't, but now......

Spam War Update

07.20.2004

It's been a week since my last count of the Yahoo Mail spam. Today sees the count reach a pinnacle of 6946, up 1364 from last week. Oddly enough, this is a decrease in what I have been getting. Just for fun, here are my stats for the past week:

Ahh, I remember when I used to get 0.015 spams/second. What shall I do with all of my free time?

In keeping up with my fun tradition, here are my latest 5 spams, with the 6th bonus one snuck in since I finally got some penis enlarging hot women waiting for me spam!

iTunes = Danger Dollars

07.19.2004

I've been using iTunes as my MP3 player for a few months now. I've gotten used to the layout and features to the point where it's surpassed my age old usage of winamp. Recently I registered for the iTunes online music store so that I could get my favorite songs for 99 cents each.

28 songs later I decided I needed to stop looking.

Song for a buck.... hard to beat that. Clicking 28 times adds up quick, though.

Return to 3D Modeling

07.16.2004

I've been trying to get back into the habit of playing around with Poser, hoping I'll be able to use it as a base for the figures I need in my ever-upcoming wrestling game. I've been downloading some models and messing around with them (setting them up, playing with lighting, etc). Version 5 of Poser is much different than version 4, so there are many things I'm having to learn over.

One of the best things about Poser is the large community that helps to support the users. If there's any type of model you want, there's a good chance you can find it. Most of the time I use 3D Commune or Renderosity for a good selection of free models. Vanishing Point is another good model and texture source. Although not as "community submitted" as other sites, the quality and details of the models offered here are extremely high (I've even bought a couple of the models they offer).

Last week I was playing with some rudimentary animation using Poser. Mainly I learned that I've got a lot to learn. Still, it's a whole lot of fun to play around with.

Blog Archive

As always, correct spelling is optional in any blog entry. Keep in mind that any links more than a year old may not be active, especially the ones pointing back to Russellmania (I like to move things around!).

Tags have been added to posts back to 2005. There may be an occasional old blog that gets added to the tag list, but in reality what could be noteworthy from that far back?
