JasonTracker Reborn!

04.20.2004

Much like my excursion to put the weather on this site, I've been wanting to bring back another page, the JasonTracker, but in a way that wouldn't require as much work.

The JasonTracker disappeared after I started to have a hard time keeping up with changes on the WWE travel calendar, entering them into my little database, and keeping everything up to date. It's not as much work as it sounds, just easy to slack off on if you're busy in the beginning or at the end of the month.

So after parsing the weather channel's output for the local weather, maybe I could parse the WWE calendar for what I needed. After a surprisingly short hour, I found that I could! So I know re-present the new JasonTracker, which will break the second somebody changes the format of the WWE event calendar.

Spring In My Step

04.19.2004

Today is a good Spring day. It was a little on the chilly side this morning (mid 60's), lunch outside at McAlisters was perfect (74°, looking at the weather scroll). Spring is one of those seasons that seems to last about a week here in North Alabama. Before long, like next Monday probably, it'll be 95° with 80% humidity.

But today, it's ni-i-i-i-ce. And I'm basking in it for all it's worth.

Scouting

04.16.2004

I was a Cub Scout when I was young. All I remember is trying to whistle while eating a pack full of Saltines and poorly constructing a pinewood derby car. I never pursued scouting further than that one year.

In one of those tangents that only comes about at work, we started to try and remember the motto (creed?): Scout Law - "A Scout is: trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.".

Let me see...

Might as well stop now. I'm no boy scout. But at least I can be cheerful about it!

Taxes

04.15.2004

It is tax day once again. Luckily, I mailed everything off Monday. But I mailed everything to Atlanta, and I thought I usually mail everything to Memphis. I just do what TurboTax tells me to do.

Stupid Webpage Additions

04.14.2004

I was a little bored the other day and needed a stupid mental excercise. Nothing too hard, just something to occupy my mind for a half hour or so. I was surfing and noticed that this particular page had the local temperature provided by the weather channel. Well that's kind of neat.

I thought that would be a neat thing to have, but without all the gaudy Weather Channel advertisements. I'm sure there are plenty of services that give you the local weather in a format you can just plainly display, ut this looked like that good mental excercise I was looking for.

After signing up for a Weather Channel account, they gave me the link I needed to show my local weather. It links back to a script at the Weather Channel tha then serves their appropriate information and graphics. Looking at what their server was spitting out, it bacame rather simple to parse their output until the all important temperature was found. So for now, I'm listing the temperaturein a couple of places up at the top of the page. Here, The RV Park Mom stays at, Dr. Blondie's new home, etc. I don't know how long I'll keep it all up there (since this was just a little mental excercise, after all), but for now I think I'll leave it.

Oooh! 50° and fair right now.

Blog Archive

As always, correct spelling is optional in any blog entry. Keep in mind that any links more than a year old may not be active, especially the ones pointing back to Russellmania (I like to move things around!).

Tags have been added to posts back to 2005. There may be an occasional old blog that gets added to the tag list, but in reality what could be noteworthy from that far back?
