Sept. In a Galaxy Far Away...

02.10.2004

It's finally been announced that the original Star Wars trilogy is coming to DVD September 21. It's more than likely going to be chock full of extra bonus docu-drama-blooper-effects, but that's what DVDs are for!

I remember when the series was re-released in the theaters in their Special Edition format, I didn't think the original Star Wars had aged that well (even with all the up to date additions to the effects). Maybe it's just different to see things through the wide open eyes of an eight-year old.

Doens't mean I'm not going to get these when they come out, though.

To Sleep, Perchance To Sleep Some More

02.09.2004

Weekends are made for sleeping, espeically during the winter. Most of the time during the week, I manage 6-7 hours of sleep per night. I'm fine with that, I feel plenty rested on a day to day basis. I think some of that caught up with me over the weekend. Lots of naps. Lots of sleep.

Last night, I went to bed at 7:40 after an hour or so of having a hard time keeping my eyes open. I remember seeing the clock go to 8:00, but it wasn't soon after that I was sleeping, snoring, and drooling. I managed to pretty much stay that way until my alarm went off at 7:45 this morning. Luckily, I didn't wake up tired as is often the case of sleeping so much.

The only weird part of my long nights sleep is that I feel a little dissoriented so far, kind of like I'm not all the way awake (although I don't feel tired). Maybe once the day gets going I can get into my groove.

Wandering Browsings

02.05.2004

This has turned into my favorite quote from Jack Nicholson:

"I only take Viagra when I'm with more than one woman."

Along a different vein, I'm not sure why it took so long, but someone is finally making an adult version of the Sims. Sort of.

Virtual Dreamscapes

02.04.2004

Yesterday I told Jerry of my latest dream. It was one of those surreal dreams involving dogs driving cars, lot's of cars gently wrecking into each other, and Jerry driving us into the ocean.

The part that made the dream stick with me is that it occured in a fictional city that's remained constistant within my dreams. Years ago, I dreamed up a city that was the home of Birmingham Southern and Resgen, with a long bridge that led to Guntersville. About every 6 months, I would have a dream where I was either late for a class at BSC, late for a meeting at ResGen, or had to cross the bridge to get to Guntersville. The layout of the city was fairly consistant from dream to dream, yet I was always running late.

I've wondered if I manage to reach a state of lucid dreaming to where I make the surroundings consistant between dreams. The details of the city have always been the same, so I've got to be doing something.

In my latest dream, we were in the same city, except "behind" the section where I was always running around at BSC and ResGen. It was weird, because in my dream I saw the buildings I was always running to and said "Oh, I know where I am now". That's when Jerry drove down a long, San Francisco like hill and went into the ocean. I hadn't been down that road before, so I didn't know to warn him that it ended in the ocean.

As surreal as the whole dream was, I wonder most why it took place in my dream city reserved for other dreams. Maybe I need to lay off the fried chicken from Publix?

Dad Sees His Shadow

Groundhog Day. That special day that can mean only one thing:

Happy Birthday Dad!

Dad turns a jazzilion today, give or take.

As always, correct spelling is optional in any blog entry. Keep in mind that any links more than a year old may not be active, especially the ones pointing back to Russellmania (I like to move things around!).

Tags have been added to posts back to 2005. There may be an occasional old blog that gets added to the tag list, but in reality what could be noteworthy from that far back?
