I've been looking at it for a while, but I think I've found a way to optimize my savings by becoming an Amazon Reseller.
Basically, I can list things that I want, click my own link, and get a small percentage back from Amazon. I don't know if it's really that easy, but I figure it's worth a shot. If you want to help me out, go to my Amazon search page before going through to Amazon. I think there's a hidden parameter passed along that may give me credit for what you might buy from them.
I was watching Underworld Wednesday night and got to watching the bonus features on the DVD. Along the way I saw that one of the big, hulking guys playing one of the werewolves was also a co-writer of the movie. Plus he comes from a background of microbiology. And studied genetic engineering in grad school. But he's built like he could give any pro wrestler a run for their money. And yet he also has started his own comic book company.
So my new favorite person is Kevin Grevioux. I was a little fixed on the interviews with him listening to him speak. He has a voice that's got to be deeper than Michael Clarke Duncan or James Earl Jones (hmmmmm, 3 word names... deep voices....), but he's also very articulate, not at all what you would expect by stereotypifying him by his looks.
He seems to be what every nerd might want to grow up to be. Money, body, comic book company...
I spent a little bit of time messing around with some of the sites admin tools yesterday. The biggest change was to the blog entry database. With any luck, I made some changes that should hopefully keep words from running together like they do occasionally (due to my lack of using a wide enough variety of MySql data types).
I also put together a little tool that should warn me when I overuse a particular wrestling babe for a given month. That's something that's been needed for a while now.
I'm also doing an inventory of what movies I actually have. Over the years, I think a few of them have broken free from the confines I call home. Maybe they're out wandering the wilderness. Little DVD hobos.
Last night was one of those nights that got me all giddy and cheerful. After not being able to catch up to him in almost a year, I finally talked to my favorite WWE Lighting Director, Jason. I wish we had gotten more time to talk, but of course I wait until the Smackdown tapings are about to start before I call. I still owe him a drink at one of our local bars (should be culture shock for a guy that travels the world year round - he was in Iraq last week and Huntsville Tuesday night).
About 30 minutes later I got a surprise call from Dr. Blondie, Sociologist to the Stars. The first thing she put on my plate was to rough up Jerry and collect the $40 (even though she'll settle for $20) that he owes her from the Great 2003 Bowling Fiasco. Afterwards, she was able to brag about her exemplary credit rating and how now she has to go house shopping.
I'm one of the worse when it comes to staying caught up withpeople, but I'm glad when I do manage to get caught up.
After taking Mom to dinner last night, we ended up playing some more Scrabble and a little Texas Hold-em Poker. While playing Scrabble, I thought back to all the times I used to see Mom play Rook with her parents. I tried to play with them a couple of times, but I could never get the rules straight before I would get either frustrated or bored.
Last night I realized part of why she used to play with her parents - it's something to do when you go to visit. I think there's only so much catching up with people and events you can do. Having something to do - a game, a puzzle - gives you something to do together besides veg out in front of the tv.
I think my realization of this is definitely a sign that I'm getting older. Maybe I should head to Toys R Us and see if I can head it off before it takes to deep a hold.
As always, correct spelling is optional in any blog entry. Keep in mind that any links more than a year old may not be active, especially the ones pointing back to Russellmania (I like to move things around!).
Tags have been added to posts back to 2005. There may be an occasional old blog that gets added to the tag list, but in reality what could be noteworthy from that far back?
